New York-based fine artist TTK debuts his most personal body of work to date with “See What I’m Seeing.”
“These paintings were inspired by people escaping from something and stepping out of what’s familiar, even when it’s uncomfortable.” - TTK
A play on TTK’s widely popular “See What I’m Sayin’” art book series, the “See What I’m Seeing” exhibit gives a surreal visual tour of how he perceives the world through a series of paintings, photographs, and animations. TTK does more than create compelling, layered pieces; He gives insight into his previous works, adding a deeper understanding of his personal connections to these references. They are what informed him throughout his childhood and artistic career. In a series of pieces featuring influential people in his life,
TTK’s imaginative, figurative style is heavily influenced by comics, music, and pop culture of the ‘80s to the present day. His vivid creations on canvas blend depictions of urban culture with references to the sci-fi fandom of his youth. Whether it’s his painting of a Storm Trooper Winter Olympic team marching through mountainous terrain in Ralph Lauren gear, or a young black girl who finds her freedom gliding through the clouds, TTK always portrays a different perspective on the Black experience. His signature style has garnered him critical acclaim and brand collaborations with Urban Outfitters, Mass Appeal, Run The Jewels, Adidas, Viceland, and Roc Nation.
